Done!

Oh dear that's done it, I've just signed up for kielder 100. Hope I don't live to regret it. Need to get in some serious mileage training, I was out for 10 hours on sunday and still only managed just over half that. I think we get about 11.5 hours to do the 100 at kielder...hmm. Need to lose some weight too, about half a stone to get back to normal i reckon. I feel in pretty good shape, getting lots of excercise, I'm just eating too much.
Nice easy commute this morning, well it wasn't planned but going up the small hill from my house my legs screamed at me that this would be a recovery ride, a flatter, slightly longer route took an hour! Good job we're not nightriding tonight.

Eh? Can't believe your worrying! Though it will motivate you to get the miles in. Your Sunday ride had a social element, always slows things down. You were out for 10 hours but what was your actual moving time?

no idea of moving time I'm afraid, I'd guess 2hours ish stationary. Could do with getting a profile of the kielder route. 100miles with 8000ft ascent not too bad, 100/14000, a la fred whitton, bit more of a problem.

I will be single speeding it and I an REALLY slow downhill so if the route has got 8000ft of climbing I certainly wont make any of the cut offs.

I'd have thought you don't save much time being fast downhill, it's being fit enough to be fast on the flat and ups. 8000ft isn't much over 100miles, I think the stw peaks ride managed 4500ft in 21miles at weekend!

It's the stopped time that adds up very quickly I've found. My Garmin has a paused time setting on it, it adds up fast, very fast when I'm in faff mode. I keep an eye on stopped time and add it to ride time for various reasons, taking food in being the main one. On my new Garmin I've set a field for total elapsed time to get a true picture.

Nice one! You will be fine! I managed it last year and you are faster than me! I'll email you a profile. But I got 7800m of climbing! But nearly all of it was rideable - would have been 100% on gears!
