Too Slow
I've decided to pimp my singlespeed this year, to me the shonky aspect has always been a big part of singlespeeding but it is so much fun I think it deserves a half decent bike - not so expensive as to put me off trudging through the mud and rain but something a little nicer/lighter than my battered old inbred. So I was well impressed this week when I saw scandal inbreds for £135, finally got round to ordering one today - out of stock. Grrr. Ah well will have to go for something pimpier. I'm thinking of something like a whippet or a cotic soul - think I'll stick with vertical dropouts, I've heard horizontal can be a pain in the arse with disc brakes (refitting wheel after fixing flats out on the trail), plus if I'm paying a wedge for a frame the option of gears would be nice too. Will have to see how many pennies I can save up.

I'm waiting on the new swap dropout scandals coming out as I want a lighter frame than the current 456 lump of pig iron and wanted rid of the weight and ugliness of the tensioner. Never thought about trailside faff...I've got a bit of a wait to think about it anyway.
Dunno if you've used slot drops before, on the pompy with bolt-on wheels it's a minor faff fitting a wheel, with a chain tug (if you're using QR wheels) and a disc brake to contend with aswell I can see it being a right pain. I read someones blog recently who confirmed it, can't remember who/where tho. But slots do look a lot nicer.
Carbon 456?
Carbon 456 is a bit excessive for what I want it for and the 16" is just too long. I have a ti456 for bling and really want to put 100mm forks on the SS eventually as the Revs currently on there are so utterly dead. 100mm on the 456 just feels wrong. However, the 14" scandals are now at the low price, they weren't before...quandary, particularly as I often tootle out on the SS on my own and my fettling skills are not top notch. Might nab a frame and save up for some new Reba's, will need to discuss with him indoors though as he will be building it.
